I'm on a committee
Which means that from morning to night
We attend and amend
And contend, and defend
Without a conclusion in sight.
We confer and concur,
We mull and we stir,
And re-iterate all of our thoughts.
We revise the agenda,
With frequent addenda,
And consider a load of reports.
We compose and propose,
We suppose and oppose,
And the points of procedure are fun!
But though various notions
Are brought up as motions
There still needs more to be done.
Oh, give me your pity,
For I'm trapped in a city,
Where the committee's endless debates
Leave no room for dreams,
Just continuous schemes,
As we navigate and nod to our mates.
From morning till night,
We strive for what's right,
In a whirlwind of voices and strife.
We argue and plead,
But fail to succeed,
In finding a resolution for life.
In all of this chaos we face,
There is a glimmer of grace,
In the bonds we form, despite the divide.
For, within these walls,
Where tension enthralls,
We discover a unity we cannot hide.
So let us persist,
In this committee's midst,
With the hope that our efforts will bear.
Though conclusions elude,
In unity we include,
And together, our purpose we'll share.
Oh, give me your pity,
For I'm on a committee,
A never-ending journey, it seems.
And through collaboration,
And our shared determination,
We'll find solace in our collective dreams.
