Liberal Democrat Candidates for Northfields, Dunstable ROD KEYES A Self Employed Chartered Insurance Practitioner, 57 married with a grown up son, I have lived in Dunstable for more than 30 years. I am a committed Liberal Democrat and am fortunate to be in a position where I can now offer myself for election to the Central Bedfordshire Unitary Authority. It would be my aim to promote Dunstable issues in the wider sphere and to fight to increase the delegation of power to local Town Councillors, including local planning decisions. I stood for election to the Westminster Parliament in 2005 and have campaigned for more than 25 years both Nationally and Locally on behalf of the Liberal Democrats. If Houghton Regis, Liverpool, Hull, Newcastle, Watford and St Albans to name but a few are happy to be led by Lib Dems, why not Dunstable? I have served on South Beds District Council for the past five years representing Houghton Hall ward. With the demise of that council and ward, I am happy to put myself forward to represent another ward that is just on my doorstep. It is important that Northfields has strong representation in the new Central Bedfordshire Council. Labour have little chance of making an impact on this council which is sure to be dominated by the Conservatives. The Liberal Democrats are odds on favourites to be the main opposition.
