Thursday 7 May 2015: Election Day

Elections to Central Bedfordshire Council were held on 7 May 2015, along with the 2015 United Kingdom general election and other local elections. The whole council was up for election, with each successful candidate serving a four-year term of office, expiring in 2019.

The Conservative Party retained overall council control, winning 53 of the 59 seats. Of the remaining 6 seats, 3 were won by Independents, 2 by the Labour Party and 1 by the Liberal Democrats.

I stood as an Independent candidate. I was already an active councillor for Houghton Regis Town Council representing Parkside.

I produced and delivered 4 x 2-sided A4 leaflets to Parkside, Houghton Regis leading up to the election.

The first count put Antonia Ryan in front by 5 votes, so I had to ask for a recount. Still, it was very close. 53% turnout.
